According to her family, a Brazilian national who spent four days stranded deep inside an active volcano passed away before being able to be rescued.

On her way to the summit of Mount Rinjani in Indonesia, 26-year-old Juliana Marins fell off a cliff close to Cemara Nunggal early on Saturday morning, June 21. The last eruption of the active volcano occurred in 2016.

Because she allegedly asked the guide for a break, it is believed that Juliana was hiking with the guide at the time of the event. The group apparently continued without her, though, and upon the guide’s return, they discovered Juliana had tumbled from the cliff.

It has already been verified that the hiker has sadly passed away.
