Inmate Liam Deane Dies in Prison One Month After Sentencing for Infant Daughter’s Murder
Liam Deane, who was convicted for the murder of his newborn daughter, was found dead in his prison cell just one month into his sentence. Authorities allege that Deane was killed by fellow inmate John Westland, who has since appeared in court in connection with the incident.
Deane was sentenced to life in prison after he admitted to violently shaking and punching his 2-day-old daughter, Luna, because she would not stop crying. The assault resulted in severe brain injuries, and Luna tragically died three days later.
During his confession, Deane took full responsibility for the injuries inflicted on the infant. He told investigators that he had lost control when the baby failed to settle down.
