A Nottingham man who has been cleaning the Brian Clough Statue for the past few years on his own accord has now turned his attention to some of the city’s other prominent landmarks.Michael Stremouch, 63, from West Bridgford, has been cleaning the statue of the legendary Nottingham Forest manager and also graves at Wilford Hill Cemetery for a number of years now as a way to keep him busy during his retirement.

Now that Remembrance Sunday is coming up, Michael has decided to dedicate his time to some of Nottingham’s statues that will be at the focal point of some Poppy Day Services.

While Michael is a die-hard Reds supporter, he was also seen cleaning the “Legends of the Land” statue outside the Notts County ground.

Michael said: “It stemmed from me doing a fundraiser for Mencap, where I collected all the signatures of the Forest players and the Notts County players on a few jerseys, so when I was down there, I saw the oak tree outside and the mess, so I cleaned it all last Saturday.
