Flash Flood Emergency Unfolds in Ruidoso, New Mexico

Ruidoso, New Mexico, is facing a life-threatening flash flood emergency after rivers surged more than 20 feet in just 30 minutes. The rapid rise has left homes destroyed, families stranded, and emergency crews scrambling to respond.

Entire houses were swept away in minutes, and residents were seen climbing onto rooftops to escape the floodwaters. Streets are unrecognizable, torn apart by the current, and debris is floating through neighborhoods once considered safe.

Live Storm Chasers described the situation as “total devastation.” Power outages have been reported, roads are impassable, and more rain is expected throughout the day—raising fears the worst is not over.
