In the old days night life centered around card games. There were Bridge, Canasta, Rummy. Games played at the kitchen table with friends or with family. Card games required the shuffle of cards and laughter, and quiet attention. In the middle of those nights there also existed a fine creation: the vintage 6-deck wooden playing card box.\

The box being made of wood and finished smoothly is indicative of a strong usefullness. It has six fitted compartments each holding a curved notch making it easy to take out a deck of cards. When players lift the lid, the trays rise slightly, making it easy for them to reach the decks.

The maker designed the compartments to fit standard decks perfectly, avoiding any unnecessary bulk or decoration. Everything is of use.

This card box was a center piece on the card nights. It was not put away, but left out with the intent of being seen. It held decks of cards adorned with flags, historical scenes or some ornamental illustration. Each deck gave its touch of character, the box held them all together for instant use.
